Copier Art

You will find here a varied (though very limited) selection of my artist books that I inventory as Copier Art. While 'serious' artists employ 'serious' techniques — lithography, letterpress, etching — I nevertheless chose the photocopier and the computer printer as my tools.

My choice was not only pragmatic, but appropriate. Even 'authentic'. Very much in keeping with the sleaze of my motifs. In the process of my working with the copier and computer printer — such inelegant processes! — I realized that while the method had its limitations, it also had rather unique virtues. My Copier Art books (I saw) were excellent!
MeatyardMEATYARD
5½" x 8½" - price: $25

This book is a revised version based on a set of books with the Meatyard title. It is copier art made with a recently purchased new machine. And rather a nice serendipity of vintage pages made years and years ago. It has the attributes of my 'waste-not-want-not' books which are one of a kind books made out of printer seconds assembled from various projects. I hate throwing things away. This book reflects my esthetic in my making this art in this way.

AndrogyneANDROGYNE (2003)
5½" x 8½" - 8 pp. - price: $15

An annotated collection of collages I created some two decades prior to my scanning them into my computer. Some of my best and most unique images. Guy would say, "Surreal." I think of them as my 'Sunday Times magazine section' cut and assembled along with cutouts of my pen and marker drawings. A wonderment of serendipity.
